About the Association

The dormitory is run by the nonprofit association “Studentenwohnheim Geschwister Scholl e.V.”. It is named in honor of Hans and Sophie Scholl, who sacrificed their lives in resistance against the NS (National socialist) regime. The ideals of these siblings and the White Rose (german: Weiße Rose) movement – respect for human rights, peace, and justice – form the foundation of our community. Our association members commit themselves to these values and actively contribute to their promotion in society.

Our aim as an association is to provide affordable and intellectually stimulating environments for students at Munich universities, fostering intercultural engagement, democratic participation, and active communal life. Those who feel aligned with these goals are warmly invited to join the association as full or supporting members.

As a member, you will receive regular updates about the Scholl dormitory, be invited to events such as the annual Scholl Dormitory Day, and have the opportunity to actively participate in the dormitory’s development. Members can assist current residents as needed, offer advice on academic matters, explain career perspectives, or help arrange internships. Additionally, membership provides opportunities to connect with current and former residents, reconnect with old friends, and establish new contacts. Former residents, in particular, can stay connected with our dormitory through this channel.

The association is a private legal entity with the bodies of the general assembly, executive board, and board of directors. The chairperson and one of their deputies, together with the managing director, represent the association externally, constituting the board as defined by law. The day-to-day affairs of the association are managed by the managing director, who is also in charge of administration and, to that extent, represents the association independently externally. The executive board comprises not only the board of directors but also the assessors and representatives of the student self-administration.

Alle 3 Häuser des
Studentenwohnheim Geschwister Scholl e.V. wurden durch Spenden
finanziert. Für das gerade erst fertiggestellte Haus 3 mussten wir
allerdings hohe Schulden aufnehmen. Diese wollen wir so schnell wie
möglich abbauen, ohne sie auf die Miete umlegen zu müssen.

Wir bitten Sie im Kampf gegen die Wohnungsnot und stetig steigenden Mietpreise in München um Mithilfe!

The funding for all three houses of the Student Dormitory Geschwister Scholl e.V. came from donations. However, considerable debt had to be incurred during the construction of the newest house, House 3, amounting to 6.9 million euros. Our goal is to reduce these debts as quickly as possible in order to minimize the necessary increase in rent as much as possible.

Your help is crucial in the fight against housing shortages and the continuously rising rents in Munich! If you want to donate, you can take action now and do so here:
